Job summary

Lonza is seeking a Project Engineer 3 to lead equipment reliability, capital projects, and process engineering initiatives at the Portsmouth, NH site. You will own P&IDs, drive technology transfers, oversee contractors, and maintain quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across manufacturing and facilities.

Applicants should have a engineering degree and 5–10 years in biopharmaceutical environments, with strong project management and contractor coordination capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Biopharmaceutical) with 5–10 years of pharma/biotech experience.
• Experience designing and operating Biopharmaceutical facilities, manufacturing and support systems.
• Desirable: experience with PLC, DCS, and loop controllers.
• Strong project management and coordination experience with capital projects in industrial settings.
• Experience coordinating engineering consultants, equipment vendors and contractors.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with cost and schedule controls while ensuring quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead root cause analysis for equipment reliability and optimize preventive maintenance plans.
• Plan and execute capital plant projects and oversee commissioning protocols.
• Act as technical owner of P&IDs and process equipment; lead technology transfers.
• Own change requests, CAPAs, deviations investigations and risk assessments.
• Review and revise SOPs, batch records, validation protocols, and critical drawings.
• Serve as SME during facility audits and inspections; demonstrate safety leadership.
