Job summary

Yang Management, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer III to provide support to the project management team, coordinate with PMO staff and external stakeholders, and perform field checks to ensure compliance with plans, standards, and DSA requirements.

The role emphasizes timely documentation and effective communication. Responsibilities include preparing written materials, managing change orders, reviewing submittals, and maintaining project records.

Qualifications

  • Seven (7) years of professional construction experience.
  • BS/BA Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related degree.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and take initiative.
  • Good verbal and writing communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to other project management team members in their responsibilities.
  • Coordinates with PMO staff, CPTs, contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, consultants, and College staff.
  • Makes field checks on construction projects to determine compliance with plans and standards (DSA).
  • Reads and interprets construction plans and shop drawings.
  • Assists in preparing written materials including correspondence, reports, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Supports development of weekly/monthly status and photos reports for the project team.
  • Reviews, negotiates, and processes construction change orders and field orders.
  • Reviews and enforces construction and professional services contracts.
  • Facilitates resolutions of construction and design issues.
  • Coordinates with Architects for timely responses to information requests and submittals.
  • Generates and distributes meeting minutes (construction and design meetings).
  • Confirms contractor’s maintenance of record drawings prior to monthly progress payments.
  • Reviews submittals for conformance to plans and specifications.
  • Prepares Scope of Work documents and project status reports for solicitation of services.
  • Other job-related duties or projects as assigned

Position Description
  • Provides ******** supports and assistances to other project management team members in the performance of their respective responsibilities. The Project Engineer III is expected at times to step into the roles of more senior members of the CPLT, including, without limitation, running design or construction meeting, conducting field checks, preparing written and photographic materials including correspondence, reports, procedures, guidelines, meeting minutes, and proposed board action requests to the District. The Project Engineer III coordinates with the Design Team for conformance review and timely and accurate responses to requests for information, submittals, construction change documents, etc. The Project Engineer III is the person primarily responsible to maintain project files in both electronic and paper format.
  • Coordinates with PMO staff, College Project Teams (CPTs), contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, consultants, and College staff
  • Makes field checks on construction, demolition, rehabilitation, alteration addition or repair projects to determine compliance with job specifications, plans, established College standards, and Division of the State Architect (DSA) requirements
  • Reads and interprets construction plans and shop drawings
  • Assists in preparing written materials including correspondence, reports, procedures, and guidelines
  • Supports development of weekly/monthly status and photos reports for project team
  • Reviews, estimates, negotiates, and processes construction change orders and construction field orders
  • Reviews and enforces construction and professional services contracts
  • Facilitates resolutions of construction and design issues
  • Coordinates with Architects for timely and accurate responses to requests for information, submittals, Construction Change Documents, etc.
  • Generates and distributes meeting minutes (construction meetings, design meetings, etc..)
  • Confirms contractor’s maintenance of record drawings prior to monthly progress payments to the Contractor
  • Reviews submittals for conformance to plans and specifications
  • Prepare Scope of Work documents and project status reports for solicitation of consultant and contractor services.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in a similar role or position in construction.
  • BS/BA Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related degree. Four Additional qualifying experience in excess to the minimum years stated above may be substituted for the required education.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and take initiative.
  • Effectively manage daily work effort in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good verbal and writing communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience on Educational programs/projects and Division of State Architect (DSA) projects.
  • Experience in all parts of the project life cycle, including master planning, design, and closeout.
  • Professional Engineer License (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or similar credentials
