Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a project engineer to support the project team on multiple projects, acting as a lead technical resource on smaller projects. You will collaborate with management, manage change orders, procure equipment and subcontractors, and interpret plans and specs to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

The role requires reading mechanical/plumbing plans, HVAC/plumbing system knowledge, and strong communication and CAD/Microsoft Office skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent education, training and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable systems design (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) and system operations.
  • Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including CAD and Microsoft Office (Excel)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with management and stakeholders to inform on project timeline and budget.
  • Manages change orders; expedites materials and estimates impact of changes.
  • Interprets plans and specifications.
  • Assembles submittal packages and project documentation information.
  • Procures equipment, materials, services; participates in subcontractor selection and hiring.
  • Analyzes and resolves complex questions and problems as needed.

Pay:

Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Maryland this ranges from $99,427.00 - $117.504.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
