Qualifications

About the Role

Marine Components is seeking an experienced Project Engineer II - Marine Seating to join our Engineering team. This position will lead the development and launch of innovative marine seating and upholstery solutions for both existing and emerging customers.

The ideal candidate combines strong project management skills with hands‑on engineering experience and a passion for manufacturing. This role will work closely with customers, suppliers, production teams, and engineering resources to develop high-quality seating systems from concept through production launch.

What You'll Do
  • Lead multiple seating and upholstery development projects simultaneously from concept through production.
  • Manage project timelines, milestones, budgets, and customer expectations.
  • Coordinate design, prototype, validation, and production launch activities.
  • Develop and improve marine seating systems, upholstery assemblies, foam components, and related interior products.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand product requirements and translate them into manufacturing‑ready solutions.
  • Work with suppliers to source materials, components, and production processes.
  • Support prototype and pre‑production builds, including documentation, BOM creation, engineering changes, and launch readiness activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on quality, manufacturability, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to improve production methods, tooling, fixtures, and assembly processes.
  • Provide hands‑on support during product launches and production ramp‑up activities.
  • Lead project review meetings and communicate status updates to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support business development initiatives through technical discussions, project planning, and customer engagement.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing, product development, project engineering, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with seating systems, upholstery, foam products, soft goods, or interior component manufacturing.
  • Experience in marine, automotive, powersports, RV, or similar industries.
  • CAD design experience and familiarity with engineering documentation.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, DFMA principles, tooling development, and production launch activities.
  • Experience working directly with customers and suppliers.
  • Continuous improvement experience including Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma methodologies.
