Job summary

Milwaukee Tool is seeking a Project Engineer II for Hand Tools to lead cross-functional New Product Development efforts across the Hand Tools Business Unit. The role focuses on delivering innovative products while balancing cost, schedule and performance, with on-site collaboration across multiple functions and international teams in Mexico and LATAM.

The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical Engineering background, 4+ years of relevant experience, and a readiness to travel up to 20% annually.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Mechanical preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience.
• Ability to travel internationally & domestically up to 20% per year.
• Spanish language skills preferred for cross-border collaboration.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple small to medium scale engineering projects.
• Work cross-functionally with global Design, Marketing, Quality & Reliability, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Supply Chain in Mexico and LATAM.
• Develop comprehensive project plans and drive execution balancing cost, schedule, performance, and risk.
• Monitor progress and provide monthly status updates to senior management.
• Visit manufacturing cells and suppliers to provide troubleshooting analysis.

As a Project Engineer II for Milwaukee you will be utilizing your engineering skills and project management ability to innovate and execute New Product Development that support our growing Hand Tools Business Unit.

You’ll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

• Lead multiple small to medium scale engineering projects.
• Work cross-functionally with global Design, Marketing, Quality & Reliability, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Supply Chain departments in Mexico and LATAM to deliver innovative products that provide efficiency and safety to our end users.
• Develop comprehensive project plans and drive project execution that balance cost, schedule, performance, and risk tradeoffs.
• Monitor & Track project progress and provide monthly project status updates to senior management and the project team.
• Regularly visit the manufacturing cells/suppliers to maintain open lines of communication with the cell/suppliers and provide troubleshooting analysis as required.
• Develop and Leverage technical prowess to challenge and quickly guide cross functional team through risk mitigation, including but not limited to:
  • Material selection and heat treatments
  • Tolerance stacks and iterative design and part review
  • Root cause analysis

What TOOLS you’ll bring with you:

• Fluency in Spanish preferred
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or educational equivalent is required. Preferred degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Ability to travel to Internationally & domestically several times of year is required (20% travel).
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience.
• Ability to manage several simultaneous projects is required.
• Highly developed mechanical aptitude is required including a broad knowledge of engineering materials used in hand tools, and an understanding of the manufacturing processes associated with these materials.
• To be successful in this role youwill need to be a self-starter who has a strong problem-solving skill set and understands design, testing, and manufacturing processes (injection molding, forging, grinding, stamping, heat treatment, machining, etc.).
• Able to provide candid overview of upcoming workload and comfortable escalating potential resource bottlenecks.
• Understanding of DFMA and various cost drivers associated with materials, labor & overhead is required.
• PMP/CAPM certification is a plus but not required.
