Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Engineer II in Indiana to coordinate with staff at all levels. The role focuses on reviewing, analyzing, and resolving field coordination issues while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

You will oversee submittals, permits, and project documents to keep schedules on track. The position emphasizes teamwork, safety compliance, and mentorship of field engineers, with a base pay range and eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan.

Qualifications

• Must have strong teamwork, initiative, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Current driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons.
• Implement the pre-construction quality plan and manage testing and inspection processes.
• Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring expenses.
• Develop and maintain Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Concrete Placement Log, and Non-Conformance Report.
• Manage, create, and distribute contract documents; establish handling procedures for electronic documents (RFIs, correspondence).
• Manage submittals: set up register, obtain customer/architect approval, prepare transmittal forms, coordinate packaging, review, and processing.
• Expedite submittals to align with project schedule; communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliers.
• Incorporate processes and procedures for project closeout phase; define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documents.
• Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers; determine alternative work methods as needed.
• Coordinate safety and compliance for all team members; maintain schedule of timelines and ensure completion.
