Roles
  • Plans and formulates workflow of self and others to meet specified deadlines with minimum supervision.
  • Has engineering responsibility and can lead specific phases of projects such as technical studies, specification writing, and establishing technical plans.
  • Develops, coordinates development plans and drives own engineering activities accordingly, including analysis, mechanical development, procurement, and quality management.
  • Initiates and coordinates design FMEAs in a technical role (not as a moderator).
  • Co‑ordinates project meetings, design reviews, and sign‑off reviews.
  • Responsibility for reports and presentations (internal and to customer).
  • Resolves engineering and design conflicts, escalating to project management, chief engineer, etc., as needed.
  • Maintains interface with other systems of the overall project.
  • Owns all system engineering tasks relating to system responsibility, including architecture, resolving design constraints, establishing interfaces, DFMEAs, DVPRs, BOM input, coordinating input from other skill teams, supplier negotiations, lead‑time planning, change management, customer interface, and the release/sign‑off process.
  • Ensures all design, analysis, and mechanical development deliverables are met according to project timing plan.
  • Coordinates work to meet tight deadlines, is aware of costs and budgets, and leads and authors single‑team proposals.
  • Provides engineering leadership to project teams.
  • All other duties/responsibilities as required.
Qualifications / Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3–5+ years’ experience in powertrain design.
  • Excellent knowledge of multiple engine system areas.
  • CAD skills, preferable Catia V5.
  • Can lead system engineering processes such as P‑diagrams, boundary diagrams, DFMEAs, and DVPRs.
  • Experience in supplier negotiations.
  • Effective team leader with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent communication to customers.
  • Good understanding of CAE tools and practices.
  • Good understanding of mechanical development.
  • Understanding of quality management tools.
Physical Requirements
  • Visual: Read documents and view details as required.
  • Climbing stairs: Ascend or descend stairs to access buildings or move between floors.
  • Light carrying: Transport items under 15 lb.
  • Moderate carrying: Transport items 15–45 lb.
  • Light lifting: Lift objects under 15 lb.
  • Moderate lifting: Lift objects 15–45 lb.
  • Heavy lifting: Lift objects 45 lb and over.
  • Sitting: For sustained periods of time.
  • Standing: Up to 4 h per day.
  • Walking: Move on foot, especially for long distances.
  • Hearing: Detect specific noises and understand normal conversations.

  • Comprehension: Understand, remember, and apply oral and written instructions, communicate routine information, solve complex problems collaboratively, and incorporate diverse viewpoints.
  • Organization: Organize thoughts, ideas, and short‑term work schedules.

  • Communication: Follow basic instructions, complete routine forms, compose letters and reports, communicate effectively over the phone, and present orally to groups.
