Amentum is seeking an Engineering Project Manager to support Nuclear Projects in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Based in Oak Ridge, you will help lead large-scale nuclear initiatives across DOE and NNSA programs, ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery.

You will coordinate cross-disciplinary teams, manage schedules and budgets, and maintain strong client and vendor relationships while upholding regulatory and safety standards. Prior project management experience and a PMP are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with strong engineering background.
• Minimum seven years of engineering project experience preferred.
• U.S. Citizenship is required and PMP is desired but not required.

• Collaborate in management and coordination of activities among all project functions and engineering disciplines.
• Review staffing requirements and coordinate with managers and subcontractors.
• Support creation and coordination of overall project plans and schedules.

We are currently seeking an Engineering Project Manager to support our Nuclear Projects.

We are seeking an experienced, collaborative project engineering professional who excels at keeping teams aligned, stakeholders engaged, and projects delivered on schedule and within budget.

Based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, this role will provide design management support for large-scale, complex projects for a diverse portfolio of clients that includes the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and commercial nuclear companies. The successful candidate will provide leadership across capital projects involving nuclear infrastructure, advanced reactor deployment, fuel cycle facilities, and mission‑critical national security programs while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and financial performance.

The purpose of this position is to assist project managers in the execution of large nuclear projects. This role has the overall objective of managing and/or coordinating project activities that are in compliance with the contract and ensure the safety, quality, value, and timeliness of project to which you will be assigned. You will be assigned responsibilities on a large‑size project, multiple medium‑size projects or complex segment of a larger project, in compliance with the project needs and directions provided by the Project Manager or the Director of Engineering.

Perform essential project engineering functions involving monitoring of progress, documentation of communications and meetings, and identification/evaluation of project issues and problems.

• Collaborate in management and coordination of activities among all project functions and engineering disciplines in accordance with the established project baseline documents
• Review project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with supporting functional organization managers and/or subcontractors
• Support creation and coordination of overall project plans and schedules, and monitoring activities, progress, and milestones against the plans
• Support creation and coordination of project effort hours, and cost estimates and budgets, and monitor progress and cost performance against these
• Support coordination between design, procurement, material management and construction on technical and schedule requirements
• Assist the Project Manager in developing the required documentation to communicate (client/internal) project contractual and technical issues, status and progress reports; conduct/coordinate related meeting as necessary
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• 7 years of experience in engineering
• USA Citizenship is required
• Experience in the performance of functional tasks on projects with a well‑developed understanding of procedures and interfaces
• Previous successful performance in a project engineering position on a minimum of two medium or large sized projects
• Proficient at initiating and growing solid relationships with clients, vendors and suppliers while meeting the company’s business needs and goals
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to set and maintain high standards of performance with responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments and tasks
• Proactive in taking prompt and appropriate action to ensure objectives are accomplished and apply necessary follow-up to monitor progress and results of project tasks and assignments
• Analytical approach to problem solving and identifying potential solutions
• Technical and business writing skills
• Able to conduct presentations in a manner which engages the audience that promotes understanding and retaining of the message
• Innovative and able to generate and consider alternative strategies or approaches to work problems and opportunities
• Basic computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, email, spreadsheets, electronic presentations, and project management tools
• Project Management Certification (PMP) desired but not required

Compensation Details

$100,000 - $140,000
