Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Roadway Senior Project Engineer to join our central Florida offices with a role that can be located anywhere in Florida within 30 miles of an RK&K office. The candidate will lead roadway design efforts for projects including widenings, resurfacing and PD&E studies for FDOT and municipalities.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in roadway design, a BS in Civil Engineering and a Florida P.E. license, plus experience with FDOT ORD/ORD and FDOT standards.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of roadway design experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required.
• Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
• Experience with FDOT Connect/ORD and FDOT standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze horizontal and vertical alignments.
• Prepare roadway plan sets, profile, cross sections and detail sheets.
• Prepare specifications packages and quantity estimates.
• Coordinate with clients and sub-consultants on design solutions.
• Assist in design documentation and project development activities.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to resolve design challenges.

Job description

RK&K is hiring Roadway Senior Project Engineers to join our successful and growing central Florida offices. This position can be located anywhere in Florida, preferably within 30 miles of one of RK&K's existing offices.

As a Project Engineer with RK&K, your responsibilities will include working with a team of engineers on the design of assigned projects. Projects will include, but not be limited to roadway widenings, resurfacings, and project development & environmental (PD&E) studies. Clients include the Florida Department of Transportation and several municipalities.

Essential Functions:

• Design and analysis of horizontal and vertical alignments
• Prepare roadway plan set components including plan, profile, cross section, and detail sheets
• Prepare specifications packages
• Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates
• Prepare design documentation
• Work with other disciplines on creative solutions to design challenges
• Coordinate with clients and sub-consultants

Required Experience:

• Minimum four (4) years of experience in roadway design
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Florida
• Experience with Roadway Design on Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and local municipalities
• Experience with FDOT Connect/Open Roads Designer (ORD)
• Working knowledge of FDOT Standard Plans, FDOT Drainage Manual and Florida Design Manual

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Eight (8) years of experience in roadway design
