Job summary

Barnhart is seeking a Branch Engineer in Charleston to support sales, design, and project engineering. The role emphasizes project engineering with field execution and hands-on support to ensure successful outcomes.

You will develop crane layouts and lift plans, create heavy equipment drawings, and provide technical guidance to field teams and clients. This position requires strong CAD skills, problem-solving, and clear communication to drive project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• AutoCAD or CAD software experience is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication for reporting and client interactions.

Responsibilities

• Develop crane layouts and rigging drawings for lift plans.
• Create layout drawings for heavy machinery moving projects.
• Produce drawings for heavy transport using modular trailers.
• Support Sales with field walk-downs and equipment lists.
• Provide technical support to Project Managers and Superintendents on jobsites.
• Design custom lifting tools per project using standards.
• Serve as field technical liaison and risk manager.
