Job description

Role Summary

The Project Engineer will support construction and field execution responsibilities for construction projects, utilizing company standards, processes, resources, and tools. Responsibilities include general construction management, punch list completion, and executing self-perform work to understand the building process and JE Dunn's project execution. This role emphasizes Heavy Equipment Solutions/Cartage support, including transportation, storage management, installation, and removal of heavy equipment.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core
  • Participate in safety and quality culture, promoting an injury-free environment.
  • Contribute to project QA/QC planning to ensure quality.
  • Assist in estimating and change management processes, including quantity take-offs and reviewing subcontractor proposals.
  • Support site activities such as monitoring crew size, materials, and equipment.
  • Engage in punch list activities, inspections, safety reviews, and documentation.
  • Manage drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Prepare reports like daily logs, progress updates, and manpower tracking.
  • Conduct site observations and support project close-out activities.
  • Apply best practices in building and construction techniques.
  • Develop communication skills with tradespeople and team members.
  • Learn support roles across the company and foster teamwork.
  • Incorporate Lean practices and develop self-perform opportunities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Accuracy, timeliness, and completeness in work.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Understanding of organizational structure and resources.
  • Knowledge of Lean processes and construction technology.
  • Ability to manage construction means and methods, self-perform work, and assess productivity.
  • Knowledge of trades and scopes of work.
  • Relationship-building and collaboration skills.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Entry-level construction experience.
Working Environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • May require travel or relocation.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours.
  • Exposure to extreme conditions.
  • Frequent activities include standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling.
