Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Project Engineer for our Central District to support heavy civil and concrete construction projects across multiple states. You will manage a team of field and cost engineers, serve as the liaison for cost, revenue, and cash flow information, and contribute to safety and operational efficiency on complex infrastructure projects.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in construction management or construction engineering, 5+ years of construction experience, and strong

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering and 5+ years experience in construction as a project engineer or similar role.
  • Experience leading/mentoring Field Engineers on self-perform construction projects.
  • Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with project controls functions, scheduling and cost reporting is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop understanding of contract plans and specifications for assigned work.
  • Inspect field conditions and identify problems, taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Inspect subordinates' work for compliance and explain corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain the project master schedule with input from project management personnel.
  • Manage document control and issue drawings and other contract documents.
  • Prepare monthly cost projections and quarterly cash flow projections.
  • Lead and train junior engineers on self-perform projects.
  • Drive safety programs and a safety-oriented culture on the project.
