Job summary

Kiewit is seeking Project Engineers to support our Central District infrastructure projects across multiple states. You will contribute to concrete, earthwork, drainage and utility work with a hands-on, self-perform approach and be part of a central district team based in the Rocky Mountain region.

Responsibilities include understanding contract plans, maintaining schedules, leading field engineers, and driving safety on site. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Construction Management or Construction Engineering with 5+ years in construction as a project engineer.
  • Experience leading/mentoring Field Engineers on self-perform construction projects.
  • Ability to read, analyze and resolve discrepancies in plans, specifications and contract documents.
  • Strong work ethic, ethics and integrity, and safety mindset.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and Outlook; scheduling and cost reporting knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Develop understanding of contract plans and specifications for assigned work.
  • Inspect field conditions and identify issues, proposing cost-saving actions.
  • Inspect subordinates’ work for contract compliance and address deficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain project master schedule with input from management.
  • Manage document control and issue drawings and logs.
  • Review new drawings for changes and quantify impacts; distribute to field.
  • Prepare monthly cost projections and quarterly cash flows.
  • Improve operations with better methods, staffing and procedures.
  • Act as managing project engineer/coordinator on multiple projects.
  • Read plans and visualize in three dimensions; support project team and travel as needed.
  • Drive safety programs at the project level.
