Job summary

Engineering & Construction Innovations, Inc. (ECI) is seeking a Project Engineer – Heavy Civil Construction to work in Oakdale, Minnesota, with travel across the Midwest. The position offers $75,000–$105,000 per year, based on experience.

You will be in the field from the start, implementing quality control plans, interpreting drawings, developing weekly look-ahead schedules, and coordinating material deliveries. A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management and 1–2 years of U.S.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of U.S. heavy civil experience (internships and co-ops count)
• Able to read and work from construction drawings
• Willing and able to work on project sites away from home for extended periods
• Authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future without employer sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Implement project quality control plans
• Interpret drawings and specifications; perform quantity calculations and material takeoffs
• Develop weekly look-ahead schedules to keep the Superintendent ahead
• Field surveying and layout with our crews
• Prepare work plans and schedule material deliveries
• Maintain project records: daily reports, photos, job cost data
• Support change orders and as-built documentation
• Learn cost tracking and scheduling from project managers to run your own work
• Learn, collaborate, and innovate on each project

Travel

What we're looking for:

A plus, not a requirement: dam, hydro, tunnel, or geotechnical project exposure; EIT certification; survey or layout experience; an internship with a heavy civil or underground contractor.
