Job summary

Kimmel & Associates, a heavy civil contractor, is seeking a Project Engineer to support field operations from preconstruction through completion in Kentucky. You will assist with scheduling, documentation, and coordination with project stakeholders on large infrastructure projects.

Ideal candidates have a civil/construction background and strong communication skills, with a drive to grow in heavy civil construction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent construction industry experience (minimum two years) will be considered.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with planning, scheduling, and coordinating active construction projects.
  • Assist with procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities to help maintain project schedules.
  • Conduct regular visits to active job sites to monitor progress and provide project support.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including production reports, quantity tracking, meeting minutes, and field reports.
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs, pricing requests, and estimating activities.
  • Review supplier and subcontractor proposals for completeness and competitiveness.
  • Communicate effectively with field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and design teams.
  • Help ensure projects remain organized, efficient, and compliant with company standards.

Position Overview

The Project Engineer will play an integral role in supporting field operations and project management from preconstruction through project completion. Working alongside experienced Project Managers and Superintendents, this individual will help coordinate schedules, manage project documentation, communicate with project stakeholders, and assist with day-to-day construction operations.
