Position at Leopardo Construction

Leopardo Construction is looking for a Project Engineer to join our Healthcare team! The Project Engineer role is ideal for candidates looking to learn and build their career in a fast-paced environment. Project Engineers have the opportunity to work on exciting projects while gaining exposure to all facets of the construction industry.

Summary: As a member of the project management team, the Project Engineer is responsible for supporting Estimating, Project Management, and Field Operations Departments in planning, directing, and coordinating project activities to meet goals and objectives. This role offers learning opportunities across all construction facets, paving the way for advancement to estimator, project manager, or superintendent. The Project Engineer will participate in Leopardo's structured training, including rotational learning plans, to understand company policies, procedures, philosophies, and the construction process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Management Support - assisting project managers in contractual responsibilities, project organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring goals related to overhead, profit, general conditions, trades, client satisfaction, and job cost.
  • Tracking project schedules using Asta, updating on critical dates and project progress.
  • Obtaining permits, insurance, and bonds.
  • Reviewing submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and expediting approvals.
  • Participating in meetings, preparing minutes, and tracking open items.
  • Negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers, generating contracts, and reviewing payment applications.
  • Maintaining project documentation, including BIM models and LEED deliverables.
  • Managing change orders, project closeout documentation, and filing systems.

Estimating Support - assisting in preparing accurate cost estimates, developing bid strategies, reviewing bid documents, conducting site walkthroughs, and participating in client presentations and project turnover.

Field Operations Support - assisting field staff in procurement, schedule management, safety, quality control, documentation, and site interactions to ensure project goals and standards are met.

Education / Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, architecture, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • Prior industry experience as a Project Engineer or Intern preferred; field and estimating experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of construction technologies, blueprint reading, and project management software.
