Job summary

Bloomsdale Excavating is seeking an experienced Project Engineer/Estimator to turn plans and opportunities into successful civil construction projects. You will review plans, perform quantity takeoffs, develop cost estimates, evaluate pricing, and assist with bid preparation.

After award, you’ll track costs, quantities, schedules, submittals, and documentation while supporting project managers and field leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil construction, estimating, project engineering, or project management.
• Can read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Organized, analytical, accountable, and detail-oriented.
• Communicates well with field and office teams.
• Comfortable identifying problems and helping develop practical solutions.
• Has a degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field—or equivalent construction experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable learning construction-related software.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, develop cost estimates, evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing, and assist with bid preparation.
• Once a project is awarded, track costs, quantities, schedules, submittals, and documentation while supporting our project managers and field leadership.
• Work with owners, general contractors, engineers, vendors, and internal teams to identify risks and help transition from estimating to operations.

Bloomsdale Excavating is hiring an experienced Project Engineer/Estimator to help turn plans, specifications, and opportunities into successful projects.
This is not a position built around pushing paperwork from one desk to another. It is a key role connecting estimating, project management, and field operations—from the first takeoff and bid review through construction and project closeout.
You will review plans and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, develop cost estimates, evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing, and assist with bid preparation. Once a project is awarded, you will help track costs, quantities, schedules, submittals, and documentation while supporting our project managers and field leadership.
You will also work directly with owners, general contractors, engineers, vendors, and internal teams to identify risks, solve problems, and help create a smooth transition from estimating to operations.
We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience in civil construction, estimating, project engineering, or project management.
• Can confidently read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
