Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Environmental Project Engineer (EDP) to join our Green Bay, WI team. This entry point into GP's Engineering Development Program offers early-career engineers exposure to environmental infrastructure projects, with ownership of smaller projects while supporting larger ones.

You will work with project managers on scope development, cost and schedule control, permitting, and field execution, accelerating growth from a contributor to a project leader.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• Experience using MS Office tools to track and communicate project information.
• Must work onsite at a manufacturing facility and travel to GP sites when needed.
• Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship.

Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Environmental Project Engineer (EDP) to join our Green Bay, WI team. This Environmental Project Engineer role is an entry point into Georgia-Pacific's Engineering Development Program for early-career civil and environmental engineers. You will work alongside experienced project managers on the environmental infrastructure that keeps our facilities running and compliant, building capability across project scope development, cost and schedule control, permitting, and field execution. The position is designed to accelerate your growth from technical contributor to project leader by giving you real ownership of smaller projects while you support larger, more complex ones.

EDP engineers are expected to take on progressively larger scopes as they demonstrate capability. Early assignments focus on supporting a project manager and running small projects end to end; over time that grows into independent management of larger capital environmental projects, deeper permitting ownership, and a mentoring role for the engineers who follow. Development is guided by hands-on project work, coaching from experienced project managers, and GP's Business Process for Projects as the common framework.

What You Will Do

No two weeks look the same. You will move between the project team room, the design documents, and the job site, with your time shifting toward the field as projects reach construction. A typical set of responsibilities includes:

• Assist the project manager with development of project scope, budget, schedule, risk identification, and permitting plans.
• Manage action registers and track schedule and budget performance against the approved baseline.
• Provide onsite construction support, including contractor coordination, field verification, and safety and quality observations.
• Lead project management of small projects using GP's Business Process for Projects

Types of projects supported include:

• Assignments are drawn from the environmental and civil infrastructure portfolio at our manufacturing sites, so the work spans water, waste, and heavy infrastructure rather than a single narrow discipline.
• Water Resource Management: Stormwater facilities and outfalls, firewater systems, water reduction opportunities
• Waste Management: Landfills, plastic screenings, waste treatment clarifiers and ponds
• Infrastructure: Process sewers, marine facilities, geotechnical, dredging

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
• Experience using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) to track and communicate project information
• Must work onsite at a manufacturing facility and in active construction areas, including occasional travel to other GP sites
• Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

• Internship, co-op, or work experience in environmental, civil, or heavy industrial construction projects
• Experience with environmental permitting, such as stormwater, wastewater discharge, air, or solid waste permits
• Experience with project controls fundamentals: cost estimating, scheduling, change management, and risk registers
• Coursework or field experience in water resources, geotechnical engineering, hydraulics and hydrology, or landfill design
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, or scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6
• Ownership of a project or initiative from planning through completion, in school, internship, or work
