Job summary

Actalent in Mount Pleasant, WI, is seeking a Project Engineer to support large-scale electrical construction for data centers. You will work with Project Managers, Superintendents, field teams, and clients to ensure safety, schedule, budget, and quality.

Responsibilities include planning, RFIs, submittals, change orders, cost tracking, schedules, and closeout; requires a degree and 1–5 years' experience; local travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • 1–5 years of experience in construction project engineering or electrical construction.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel locally to project sites.

  • Coordinate with owners, general contractors, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve issues and maintain progress.
  • Support closeout activities including punch lists, as-builts, and turnover documentation.
  • Monitor safety, quality, and company standards and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Assist with estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and project controls.

Project Engineer – Electrical Construction (Data Center Projects)

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to support the successful execution of large-scale data center electrical construction projects. The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, field leadership, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Managers with the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical construction projects.
  • Support procurement activities including material tracking, equipment releases, submittals, and vendor coordination.
  • Prepare, distribute, and track Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with field supervision to ensure labor, materials, and equipment are aligned with project schedules.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents for completeness and constructability.
  • Maintain project logs, meeting minutes, action item lists, and cost tracking reports.
  • Assist in developing and updating project schedules and short-term work plans.
  • Coordinate with owners, general contractors, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve project issues and maintain progress.
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, as-builts, O&M manuals, and turnover documentation.
  • Monitor project compliance with safety, quality, and company standards.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate project updates to stakeholders.
  • Assist with estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and overall project controls as needed.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 1–5 years of experience in construction project engineering, project coordination, or electrical construction.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to project sites.
Preferred
  • Experience with electrical contracting or specialty trades.
  • Exposure to mission-critical, industrial, manufacturing, or data center construction projects.
  • Familiarity with BIM/VDC processes and coordination.
  • Experience with project management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or Microsoft Project.
  • Understanding of medium-voltage power distribution, generators, UPS systems, switchgear, and critical infrastructure systems.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Pleasant, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $36.00/hr.
