Job Summary

The Project Engineer plans, organizes, manages, and is responsible for all document control and distribution processes and systems for the Planning, Design & Construction Department. They handle construction project‑related documentation received from and sent to contractors, architects, and internal staff from the initial planning and early development of a project through its completion. The role collaborates with project teams to develop detailed project plans and designs, prepare cost estimates and budgets, and maintain effective communication throughout all construction phases.

Essential Functions

They must also comply with hospital policies and procedures, service standards, and the code of conduct.

• Supports project managers and teams with creating, tracking, and updating design and construction schedules. Collaborates on detailed project plans/designs and prepares cost estimates and budgets. Meets regularly with the project team to track project status.
• Prepares meeting agendas and records/distributes minutes summarizing discussions and approved actions. Verifies and corrects project documentation as needed.
• Scans, distributes, and files documents, including project designs, drawings, specifications, estimates, and correspondence, to the appropriate archival repository.
• Ensures that document control and distribution systems are organized, accurate, clear, and complete.
• Maintains ongoing communication with construction and contractor management teams.
• Provides initial review of pay applications, change orders, and other incoming construction documents.
• Performs other project engineering and management duties as needed or assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, or possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education

Bachelor's degree in a work‑related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.

Experience

Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

Licensure/Certification

None required.

Knowledge

• Knowledge of and ability to use project management tools.
• Knowledge of CAD systems, CAFM, estimating, cost control, scheduling, construction administration, quality control, and specific writing and place planning.
• Knowledge of project management, accounting, construction design, construction methods, building materials, sustainability, mechanical and electrical construction, cost estimation, building codes and standards, and contract administration.
• Knowledge of technical and professional requirements in healthcare delivery, architecture, building design, and construction.
• Knowledge of OSHPD forms, applications, fees, permits, test, and inspection forms.
• Knowledge of RFI, PCO, submittal, and invoicing processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite business software applications.
• Ability to organize and complete project documentation.
• Ability to read drawings and schematics.
• Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and complete work within deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and gain the cooperation of others at all levels, within and outside the organization.

Pay Range

Salary is based on the level and requirements of the role and may be influenced by education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and internal equity. Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid‑salary range.
