Job summary

State of New York - Thruway Authority is seeking a Professional Engineer 1 (Civil/Transportation) to oversee major and multiple contracts on-site from our Albany, NY office. The role requires a NYS PE license and relevant transportation project experience, with travel about 20% and standard workweek Monday to Friday.

The position is full-time with permanent appointment and participates in NYS benefits. Base pay ranges from $87,716 to $123,208 annually, plus a $7,000 recruitment/retention

Qualifications

• A NYS Professional Engineer license and current registration.
• Qualifying degrees include Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering or related fields.
• One year of full-time engineering experience on transportation projects such as highways/bridges/airports.

Responsibilities

• Act as the on-site representative to administer larger or multiple contracts.
• Be the primary contractor contact and issue stop work or other orders as needed.
• Maintain project documentation per MURK and CAM guidelines.
• Interpret plans and manage changes and change orders with the contractor.
• Lead progress meetings, monitor milestones, and adjust schedules as required.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state/local laws and EEO/D/M/WBE programs.
