Job summary

Hawkins Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer in Minnesota to support capital projects for chemical manufacturing and distribution locations.

You will participate in up-front process design and cost estimating, move through detailed design, equipment specs, and control system design, and assist with start-up and regulatory compliance. Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial) preferred.
• 5 years of experience as a project/process engineer in a chemical or related industry.
• Experience across capital projects: front-end design, estimating, funding requests; project engineering/management; construction support; commissioning/troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of design/regulatory standards: ANSI, ASME, API, NFPA, OSHA, EPA, FDA; ISO/SQF/Lean/5S is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal partners to deliver projects in a compliant, cost-efficient, and timely manner.
• Develop preliminary designs (PFD, P&ID).
• Specify equipment, materials, heat loads, and mass balances.
• Submit Capital Expense Requests.
• Specify civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls packages.
• Identify regulatory permitting requirements and liaise with officials.
• Lead design reviews with cross-functional project teams.
• Manage scope, schedules, and contractors; allocate resources for successful execution.
• Develop budgets and monitor costs; support process validation and start-up.
