Position Overview

The Project Engineer will coordinate multiple work fronts, processes, and contribute to a cross-functional team. As part of the engineering leadership team, you'll participate in meetings, collaborate to meet project objectives, and support project requirements as needed.

Work Environment

This role requires on-site work at an assigned US project location, including states like California, Montana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Arizona, North Dakota, Nevada, Colorado, and Texas. Candidates must be willing to relocate; remote or fly-in-fly-out arrangements are not available.

Qualifications
  • Willing and able to relocate and reside in the US project area
  • Canadian citizen for work visa purposes
  • Four-year bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university
  • Heavy civil construction experience required
  • Fieldwork experience is an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing situations
  • Leadership skills to motivate and coordinate team efforts
  • Knowledge of project management principles and sound judgment
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills, including technical reporting
Responsibilities
  • Involvement in cost control operations and construction cost analysis
  • Participate in monthly revenue and cost forecasts
  • Prepare monthly pay estimates
  • Manage change orders and RFIs as directed
  • Coordinate shop drawings and submittals
  • Maintain records of submittals, approvals, and correspondence
  • Oversee material deliveries, inspections, and quality compliance
  • Negotiate subcontractor and material contracts
  • Assist in developing and updating project schedules
  • Collaborate with field personnel
  • Support quality control and assurance
  • Represent Barnard on technical matters
  • Attend technical and progress meetings
  • Review progress reports and invoices
  • Prepare and review project reports and correspondence
  • Maintain contact with contractors, consultants, and technical staff
