Job summary

Gits Mfg Co in Urbandale, IA is seeking a Project Engineer to lead the specification, design, and validation of components and subassemblies for Power Packer and Gits Mfg. products, ensuring cost, time, and quality targets are met.

You will develop engineering specs, create CAD-based designs (SolidWorks), perform analyses (CFD/FEA), support design reviews, and document results while driving engineering changes and continuous improvement across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.
• 2 years of relevant experience in Product Design or R&D desired.
• Knowledge of Power Packer and Gits products and manufacturing processes.
• Good communication skills, written and verbal.
• Team player in multidisciplinary project teams.
• Advanced CAD tools knowledge (SolidWorks).
• Experience with simulation/modelling, FMEA and 8D.
• Knowledge of APQP or stage gate development processes.

Responsibilities

• Product and process specifications: develops, creates and modifies engineering specifications of components, subassemblies, and manufacturing processes.
• Design: creates and modifies designs and drawings using CAD tools, supports design reviews.
• Design analysis: verifies designs through engineering calculations and simulations (CFD/FEA).
• Design verification/validation: tests designs and documents results, supports prototype building.
• Engineering changes: tracks and implements design changes to reduce cost or improve quality.
• Estimation and Reporting: provides estimates for engineering tasks and reports progress.
• Documentation and reports: documents design artifacts per development process standards.
