Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to oversee multiple building projects from planning through execution. You will manage subcontractors, review contract plans and specifications, and lead field operations to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

Based in the greater Washington, DC market, relocation is available as work requires. You will mentor junior engineers and coordinate with project management to maintain the master schedule, forecast costs, and drive continuous improvements.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5+ years’ work experience in construction or engineering.
• 2+ years' experience managing engineers and project subcontractors.
• Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform Contract Compliance, quality control & Field Oversight of subcontractors on the project.
• Develop understanding of contract plans and specifications.
• Inspect field conditions to identify problems and cost-saving opportunities.
• Take corrective actions to resolve field issues.
• Review subordinates’ work for compliance and implement corrective measures.
• Project Scheduling & Coordination with master schedule development.
• Collaborate with project management to ensure schedule accuracy.
• Document Control & Change Management; handle project closeout.
• Manage document control processes and issuance of drawings.
• Review new issue drawings for changes and quantify impacts.
• Distribute updated documents to field teams and ensure proper implementation.

• Serve as managing project engineer/coordinator across multiple projects.

Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Project Engineer to oversee and support multiple building projects from planning through execution. This role requires a strong understanding of subcontractor management, and field operations, as well as experience with review of contract plans and specifications, project scheduling, cost forecasting, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will have a few construction projects under their belt performing subcontractor oversight for building projects, proactive in identifying and resolving issues, ensuring compliance at the site, and driving operational excellence with the team. Responsibilities

• Document Control & Change Management, handle project closeout.
• Manage document control processes including logging and tracking new issue drawings and contract documents.
• Review new issue drawings for changes in conditions; quantify impacts and communicate with supervisor.
• Distribute updated documents to field teams and ensure proper implementation.
• Cost Forecasting & Financial Planning
• Prepare monthly cost projections using data from project management systems.
• Develop quarterly cash flow projections to support financial planning.
• Operational Improvement & Leadership
• Recommend improvements to project operations including staffing, methods, and procedures.
• Serve as managing project engineer/coordinator across multiple projects.
• Provide supervision and on-the-job training for junior engineers and project staff.

Qualifications

Base Compensation: $110,000 - $140,000

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
