Project Engineer

Bear IC is looking for a skilled Project Engineer to join our growing team!

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Coordination with Subs, vendors, suppliers, and Independence Construction project team.
  2. Administer and monitor compliance with construction contracts with Owners, subcontractors and vendors.
  3. Coordinate and expedite materials and services for the job site, in conjunction with superintendent.
  4. Schedule and manage meetings throughout each phase of construction and preconstruction.
  5. Assist the PM with the management of Project Budget, Budget Revisions, Cost Projections, and Cash Flow Projections. Assist with the generation of reports.
  6. Review and coordinate structural, architectural and MEP drawings throughout the project.
  7. Assist PM in the oversight and management of change management processes.
  8. Collect and analyze the trade contractor proposal for scope changes.
  9. Review and negotiate the cost for the change in scope to ensure the pricing is accurate and fair for the change in work.
  10. Log the change management to the correct cost codes.
  11. Issue the subcontract change order upon approval of the change by Owner and PM.
  12. Responsible for the entire RFI process (initiate, review the response, maintain a log and distribute to team as appropriate).
  13. Responsible for the entire submittal process (initiate, review the submittal, maintain a log and distribute to team as appropriate upon approvals).
  14. Responsible to keep accurate and current at all times the drawing log, submittal log, and RFI log.
  15. Coordinate all project meetings with PM and Superintendent prior to the start of project.
  16. Attend Owner / Architect / CM (Contractor) meetings.
  17. Collect, review and process subcontractor payment applications as assigned by the PM. Assist in compiling owner payment applications.
  18. Assist the Superintendent and PM as requested in creating and updating the Master Schedule.
  19. Quality Control and Quality Assurance - Work with the team (PM, PX, Supt.) for the development of the project QA/QC program.
  20. Assist PM and Superintendent with Close-out process.
  21. Assist with the preliminary punch list process.
  22. Coordinate owner-requested warranty requirements during the warranty period.
Minimum Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. 2-5 years of previous related experience is required.
  3. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  4. Knowledge of budgeting and expense control.
  5. Able to write reports, and business correspondence.
  6. Able to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
  7. Able to perform duties independently.
  8. Computer skills: Microsoft Office applications.
  9. Strong attention to detail.
Physical Demands:
  1. Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment.
  2. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set up and maintain work files.
  3. Ability to move over rough terrain on and around a construction site.
Working Conditions:
  1. Work performed in a general office environment and at project sites.
  2. Requires overtime hours on a regular basis.
  3. Requires periodic participation and attendance at company events and meetings.
