Job summary

Sika is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Automotive Technologies team in Madison Heights, Michigan. The role involves leading projects focused on damping, sealing, and reinforcing materials while managing engineering changes and timelines. Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and have 1-3 years of experience in the automotive industry. Proficiency in Japanese and experience with Japanese OEMs are highly preferred. Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of application engineering or program management in the automotive industry.
  • Experience within Japanese culture and fluency in Japanese.

Responsibilities

  • Managing DFMEA and DVR&R activity through launch.
  • Securing application design approval.
  • Managing tooling budgets.
  • Working with customer engineering and factory support.
  • Support Sika materials application strategy.
  • Manage project timelines from award through 90 days post-launch.
  • Ensure design reviews are complete and drawings are released.
  • Establish DVP&R's and DFMEA's.
  • Manage engineering changes from quote approval.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job description

Job Title: Project Engineer – Automotive Technologies

Sika is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our team. The Project Engineer will assume project leadership and overall responsibility for Automotive Technologies in damping, sealing, and reinforcing, and will drive activities to meet timing needs.

Responsibilities
  • Managing DFMEA and DVR&R activity through launch.
  • Securing application design approval.
  • Managing tooling budgets.
  • Working with customer engineering and factory support to achieve results.
  • Support Sika materials application strategy to meet customer requirements.
  • Manage project timelines from award through 90 days post-launch.
  • Ensure design reviews are complete and drawings are released in accordance with department procedures.
  • Establish DVP&R's and DFMEA's and ensure design verification of parts including customer on-site validation.
  • Manage engineering changes from quote approval by the customer to implementation at the manufacturing plant.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the Supervisor.
Preferred Skills
  • PC proficiency including MS Office and project management software.
  • Excellent analytical & quantitative skills as well as strong communication.
  • Capable of creating strong internal & external relationships with customers, vendors, and contacts across business groups.
  • Familiarity with plastic injection molding and tooling as well as part design is highly recommended.
  • Experience working with Japanese OEM's and fluent in Japanese.
