Job summary

Brose North America Inc. in Detroit is seeking an experienced project engineer to plan and manage engineering programs for automotive projects.

You will develop schedules, budgets, and deliverables, and report on progress to ensure milestones are met. The role requires 3–4 years in automotive engineering, strong PDP/product development knowledge, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams through design, testing, and documentation processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with 3–4 years automotive engineering experience.
• Experience in project management, PDP, product development, product X, DFMEA creation/analysis.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements engineering programs, activities and milestones per customer requirements.
• Develops and maintains schedule and budget for assigned engineering projects.
• Provides reports on milestone status and adjusts schedules as needed.
• Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables and samples.
• Coordinates and creates bid-package deliverables (BOM, sizing, fit/form).
• Oversees personnel across technical phases like design, specs and testing.
• Reviews designs for compliance with standards and customer requirements.
• Manages risks, DFMEA changes and technical issue resolutions.

Your Tasks

• Plans and implements engineering programs, activities and milestones, per customer requirements.


• May develop and maintain a schedule and budget for the assigned engineering projects.


• Provide reports on the status of project milestones and adjust schedules accordingly.


• Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.


• Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables including: internal and external samples, design documents for internal release and customer.


• Coordinate and create deliverables for bid packages regarding engineering (including BOM creation, product sizing, fit and form evaluation).


• Assigns and oversees project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing.


• Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.


• Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.


• Directs integration of technical activities and products.


• Responsible for the technical analysis of risks and errors (ie. DFMEA) / problems and / or impact of changes, preparation of proposals and implementation of technical changes.


• Responsible for the development and implementation of changes.


• Implementation and management of the DTM (Development Team Meeting) responsible for change control management.

Your Profile

• Bachelor's degree or Master's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering; and three to four years related experience and/or training in engineering within the automotive industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


• Project management / PDP, Product Development, Product X knowledge, Engineering Materials, Tol. Stacks / GD&T, DFMEA creation and analysis, Technical Documentation, BOM creation and development, Engineering Change Mgt, Relating cost to product design, DFM / Assy Process Knowledge, Necessary IT Tools (SAP, IQRM, Communication, Networking, Decision Making, Time Management, Self-Motivation, Conflict Resolution, Problem-Solving, Ability to Influence, Resilience/Self-Confidence, Ability to Mentor
