Harnish Group Inc. is a Caterpillar dealer delivering electric power generation solutions. This Project Engineer position coordinates personnel, tasks and materials to ensure successful delivery and start-up of engine sales, while managing multiple projects and maintaining schedules.

Your role includes liaising with sales, vendors and customers, producing submittals, and ensuring cost control and quality throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 3–5 years in the industry, project management or related field is ideal.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, generator sets, transfer switches and related applications is desired.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MS Office and Adobe is strongly preferred.
• Understanding fabrication shop practices and procedures.

• Project manage EPG (Electric Power Generation) projects including engineering submittals, procurement, construction management, installation, start-up and quality control.
• Control finances and maintain the financial health of a managed project.
• Ensure customer/end user satisfaction.
• Provide engineering and application support to field service technicians, sales reps and customers.
• Respond to engine customer technical inquiries.
• Review project documents for compliance with requirements.
• Facilitate engine appraisal and installation.
• Design and evaluate custom components for unique applications.
• Work independently across the project lifecycle.

Job description

Project Engineer's primary function is to coordinate all associated personnel, tasks and materials to ensure the successful delivery and start-up of an associated engine sale. Project Engineers are required to manage several projects simultaneously during various stages of completion. Effective time management and strong organizational skills are essential for success. Close interaction with sales representatives, vendors, and customers is required to fully understand and manage each project in its entirety.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Project manage EPG (Electric Power Generation) projects including preparation of engineering submittals, equipment procurement, construction management, systems installation, equipment start up and quality control.
• Control finances and maintain the financial health of a managed project.
• Ensure customer/end user satisfaction.
• Provide engineering and application support to field service technicians, sales representatives and customers.
• Respond to engine customer technical

OPERATIONAL FUNCTIONS:

• Prepare project submittals as required per specs for equipment approval and subsequent release.
• Generate purchase orders and all other phases of procurement and
• Facilitate and organize equipment timely delivery to project
• Coordinate product commissioning between service department and contractors.
• Input data and manage projects in dealer project management programs.
• Send all test reports to customer and/or contractor and complete all necessary paper work as required for the project including final O&Ms, warranty registration and project closure.
• Additional responsibilities and functions may be needed to meet customer and organizational needs.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in the industry, project management or in a closely related technology field is ideal.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, electric generator sets, transfer switches, power transmissions and other industry related applications is desired.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MS Office and Adobe is strongly preferred.
• Clear Understanding of fabrication shop practices and procedures.
• Up to 20% travel to the job sites will be required.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

This position will work in an office environment and jobsite visits. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. of weight may be required.
