Job summary

H+M Industrial EPC is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead an integrated project team and manage a portfolio of capital projects up to $10MM in Sugar Land, TX. The role requires strong technical acumen, scheduling, and stakeholder management with a commitment to safety and quality.

You will drive projects from study through construction, coordinating with global and local engineering and construction firms, and ensuring adherence to client requirements and GOAL ZERO safety principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
• 7+ years of experience managing projects up to $5MM+ in relevant industries.
• Experience with facility-related capital projects acceptable in lieu of the above.
• Commitment to client requirements including safety, quality, and project processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead an integrated project team for a high-complexity project up to $5MM.
• Manage a portfolio of eight to ten mid- to high-complexity projects from study through construction (up to $10MM).
• Oversee front-end development, detail design, procurement, scheduling, QA, safety, cost control and construction.

Purpose:

H+M is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support our client in Sugar Land, TX. This role will lead integrated project teams and manage a portfolio of capital projects up to $10MM across specialty chemicals, petrochemicals, or refining environments. The successful candidate will drive projects from study phase through construction, applying strong technical, scheduling, and stakeholder management skills, with a firm commitment to safety and quality excellence.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Lead an integrated project team for one high-complexity project up to $5MM.
• Manage a portfolio of eight to ten medium- to high-complexity projects from study phase through construction, with total portfolio value up to $10MM.
• Manage projects that may be executed in phases over multiple years.
• Skilled in working with global and local engineering and construction firms to manage all aspects of front-end development, detail design, procurement, scheduling, quality assurance, safety, cost control and construction.
• Skilled at building and leading an integrated team.
• Skilled at stakeholder management.
• Ability to identify with ease integration points in a complex project.
• Demonstrated competency in risk identification coupled with mitigation implementation during all stages of projects.
• Skilled at building schedules, cost estimates, and detailed execution plans for projects.
• Knowledge of constructability and construction safety practices and procedures.
• Skilled at partnering with procurement and legal to establish labor and services contracts for capital projects.
• Proven ability to lead projects autonomously.
• Consistent demonstration of self-mastery and interpersonal skills aligned with client site values; behaves in a way that is inclusive and sensitive to cultural differences.
• Mastery-level skill in written and oral communication in English.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
• Seven (7)+ years of experience managing projects up to $5MM in specialty chemicals, petrochemicals, or refining industries.
• In lieu of the above, we are also open to candidates with experience managing facility related capital projects such as HVAC, laboratories, utilities, building renovations, and other infrastructure improvements.
• Demonstrated commitment to following client requirements, including:
• Safety and health policies and the guiding principles of Goal Zero
• Quality improvement process
• Project work process and procedures for front-end development and execution of projects

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience managing and delivering automation and digital projects (DCS and PLC).
• Experience in Program Management.
• Experience in Production, Operations, or Manufacturing.
• Experience working in SAP.

Physical Requirements

• Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Software Requirements

• Familiarity with DCS/PLC automation and digital project tools (preferred).
• Familiarity with SAP (preferred).
• Working conditions encountered in this job include those found in a typical office setting as well as an indoor/outdoor manufacturing setting which includes exposure to outside weather conditions, work at elevated heights, climbing of stairs and ladders, and physical manipulation of tools and mechanical equipment. This job demands the use of typical manufacturing personal protective equipment as well as advanced protective equipment as needed.
