Job summary

Baker Construction & Development in Spokane, WA is seeking a Project Engineer to join a team that balances professional growth with hands-on project execution.

You will support project managers, coordinate with subcontractors, and help ensure safety and quality across commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent commercial construction experience accepted.
• 3+ years of experience with a commercial general contractor.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and plans.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution.
• Assist with subcontractor buyouts, scope reviews, and procurement activities.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs, bid packages, preliminary estimates, and cost evaluations.
• Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and closeout documents.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, owners, subcontractors, and field teams to resolve issues.

WhatYou’llBeDoing:

AsaProjectEngineer,youwillprovidecriticalsupportthroughoutallphasesofcommercialconstructionprojects,helpingensureprojectsarecompletedsafely,efficiently,andtoBaker’shighstandards.Responsibilitiesinclude:

• SupportingProjectManagerswithprojectplanning,scheduling,coordination,andexecution.
• Assistingwithsubcontractorbuyouts,scopereviews,andprocurementactivities.
• Preparingquantitytakeoffs,bidpackages,preliminaryestimates,andcostevaluations.
• ManagingprojectdocumentationincludingRFIs,submittals,changeorders,meetingminutes,andcloseoutdocuments.
