Job summary

Mcnaughton-mckay Electric Co is seeking a Project Engineer - Solutions to drive engineering and coordination for Engineered Solutions projects. You will serve as the main technical liaison to customers and collaborate with sales to plan, implement, and meet contractual obligations.

You will manage projects, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with NEC, UL508A, and related standards while contributing to continuous improvement of processes and tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred or 5+ years of equivalent related experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to assist in sales pursuits and strategies.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision (time-management skills).
• Ability to independently obtain objectives and be self-directed.
• Ability to develop and lead technical personnel.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Trend business system.
• Solid knowledge of design and visualization software such as SolidWorks, EPlan, and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with Sales and decision-makers within identified strategic accounts.
• Act as primary technical point of contact for the customer.
• Collaborate with internal resources to deliver projects that meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Complete engineering projects by organizing and controlling all elements of a project.
• Work closely with other departments to vet prospective projects.
• Monitor compliance to standards and methodologies including UL508A, NEC, NFPA70E, CSA, etc.
• Manage multiple discipline projects and contribute to PM processes.
• Mentor Associate Project Engineers and support engineering standards.

McNaughton McKay GroupTitle: Project Engineer - SolutionsDepartment: Engineered SolutionsGeneral Summary:This person is responsible for the engineering and coordination of assigned Engineered Solutions projects and products. This individual will collaborate with technical resources and support sales personnel to plan, implement, and deal effectively with customers and contractual obligations. The Project Engineer is generally more experienced in larger, more complex projects and has demonstrated he/she can also handle some project management roles and responsibilities.Key Responsibilities:1. Develops relationships with Sales and the decision-makers within the identified strategic accounts.2. Acts as primary technical point of contact for the customer.3. Collaborates with internal resources to deliver projects that meet or exceed customer expectations.4. Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling all elements of a project.5. Works closely with other departments in order to vet prospective projects.6. Utilizes familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards to monitor compliance to accepted standards and methodologies including UL508A, NEC, NFPA70E, CSA, etc.7. Works with multiple discipline projects.8. Contributes to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality project management Carlsonand engineering standards and practices.9. Assists Account Managers with the identification, design, proposal generation, costing, and delivery of solutions.10. Acts as the Project Manager for assigned projects managing any deviations or issues regarding design, schedule, or quality.11. Develops relationships with key technology suppliers and builds resources.12. Mentors Associate Project Engineers.13. Working knowledge of electrical schematics and panel design fundamentals14. Demonstrated ability to develop accurate cost estimates and quotes for control panel builds15. Familiarity with industry electrical codes and standards, including NEC and IEEE16. Familiarity with panel fabrication standards, including UL508A, IEC, and CSA17. Ability to conceptualize and develop panel designs from limited or incomplete specificationsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:1.
