Job summary

McNaughton McKay Group is seeking a Project Engineer - Solutions to oversee engineering and coordination for Engineered Solutions projects. You will partner with sales, engineers, and customers to plan, implement, and deliver compliant, high-quality solutions.

The role requires experience in larger, complex projects, leadership of technical teams, and strong knowledge of electrical standards and panel design fundamentals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
• 5+ years of equivalent industry experience can substitute for a degree.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lead technical personnel and develop cost estimates.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with Sales and key decision-makers in strategic accounts.
• Act as primary technical point of contact for customers.
• Collaborate with internal resources to deliver projects meeting customer expectations.
• Complete engineering projects by organizing and controlling all elements.
• Coordinate with other departments to vet prospective projects.
• Monitor compliance with UL508A, NEC, NFPA70E, CSA, and other standards.
• Lead multi-discipline projects and contribute to standard practices.
• Assist Account Managers with design, proposals, costing, and delivery.
• Act as Project Manager for assigned projects and manage deviations.
• Develop relationships with technology suppliers and build resources.
• Mentor Associate Project Engineers.

General Summary

This person is responsible for the engineering and coordination of assigned Engineered Solutions projects and products. This individual will collaborate with technical resources and support sales personnel to plan, implement, and deal effectively with customers and contractual obligations. The Project Engineer is generally more experienced in larger, more complex projects and has demonstrated he/she can also handle some project management roles and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develops relationships with Sales and the decision-makers within the identified strategic accounts.
• Acts as primary technical point of contact for the customer.
• Collaborates with internal resources to deliver projects that meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling all elements of a project.
• Works closely with other departments in order to vet prospective projects.
• Utilizes familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards to monitor compliance to accepted standards and methodologies including UL508A, NEC, NFPA70E, CSA, etc.
• Works with multiple discipline projects.
• Contributes to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality project management Carlsonand engineering standards and practices.
• Assists Account Managers with the identification, design, proposal generation, costing, and delivery of solutions.
• Acts as the Project Manager for assigned projects managing any deviations or issues regarding design, schedule, or quality.
• Develops relationships with key technology suppliers and builds resources.
• Mentors Associate Project Engineers.
• Working knowledge of electrical schematics and panel design fundamentals
• Demonstrated ability to develop accurate cost estimates and quotes for control panel builds
• Familiarity with industry electrical codes and standards, including NEC and IEEE
• Familiarity with panel fabrication standards, including UL508A, IEC, and CSA
• Ability to conceptualize and develop panel designs from limited or incomplete specifications

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred/or 5+ years of equivalent industry related experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to assist in sales pursuits and strategies.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision (time-management skills).
• Ability to independently obtain objectives and be self-directed.
• Ability to develop and lead technical personnel.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Trend business system.
• Solid knowledge of design and visualization software such as SolidWorks, EPlan, and AutoCAD.
