South Carolina - Travel to Future Project Sites in USA
Budget: Up to $100K plus weekly allowance $1000, 401k match, medical, dental, vision, company vehicle, fuel card etc
A few years into field work on energy projects and ready to run more of the site yourself?
This is a permanent, salaried, field-based role with a growing EPC. They’re hiring for the long term, with training built in and the next project already lined up.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be the electrical lead in the field on utility-scale solar projects in South Carolina, reporting to the Project or Site Manager. Day to day, you’ll supervise electrical subcontractors and crews, sort out field issues when what’s on site doesn’t match the drawings, and inspect work against NEC and the project specs before it gets signed off.
You’ll also own your share of the numbers: schedules, production targets, cost forecasts and material tracking. That gives you a clear view of how a project makes or loses money, which plenty of people in the field never get near.
Where you’ll be working
On site in northeast South Carolina, across two utility-scale solar builds of 105 MW and 86 MW.
When those wrap up, you move with the company to the next build. That’s most likely Texas, but it could be elsewhere in the US, so this suits someone who’s happy to follow the work.
Why they’re hiring
The division started with a 72 MW project in Texas a few years ago and has since delivered builds of 250 and 275 MW, alongside the South Carolina work. They want people who’ll stay and grow with that pipeline. That shows in the in-house technical and leadership training, coaching and mentorship programs, and a career path mapped out with you, whether you end up leaning towards the field or the office.
The culture is high energy and low ego. You’re expected to question decisions, and an honest mistake is treated as something to learn from.
What you’ll get
Base salary up to $100k, plus a $1,000 weekly allowance (taxable). On top of that:
A company truck, fuel card, toll tag and maintenance, worth around $10k a year to you
A 401k with a dollar-for-dollar match up to 6%
An annual bonus and merit review
Time off is 3 weeks’ PTO (4 after five years), plus 10 paid holidays and 3 floating days you pick yourself. Healthcare covers medical, dental and vision, with virtual medical and mental health visits, an HSA and an employee assistance program.
The company
This is the energy division of one of the US’s largest civil contractors, set up as a joint venture with a global infrastructure business listed on the NASDAQ. The team has more than 2 GW of solar, storage and wind projects behind it.
