Job summary

Traylor Bros., Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to lead the Engineering function, plan and execute heavy civil projects with a focus on safety, quality and on-time delivery.

You will review plans, coordinate with staff and JV partners, manage budgets and resources, and relocate as needed to project sites. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and 7+ years of experience are required; knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred; travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Minimum 7 years of heavy civil construction experience is required.
  • Design, project management and supervisory experience are required.
  • Marine and foundation construction experience is preferred.

  • Directs activities of project personnel to ensure progress on schedule and within budget.
  • Coordinates project activities with Traylor personnel and joint venture partners.

Position Summary:

The primary objective of this role is to manage the Engineering function, plan and execute projects.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures or accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources
  • Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure the project progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget
  • Reviews status reports for management, client, and others
  • Coordinates project activities with Traylor personnel and joint venture partners
  • Responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the project, including safety, performance, budget, scheduling, equipment management, and quality
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
  • Work with and be part of the estimating departments during project procurement phases
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management.
  • Travel as required to attend, but not limited to, meetings, site visits, training, etc.
  • Understand Subcontract, Work Order, Formal PO

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required
  • Minimum 7 years of heavy civil construction experience required
  • Design, project management and supervisory experience required
  • Marine and Foundation Construction experienced preferred
Physical Demands
  • Travel will be required to attend training and meetings.
  • Ability to sit or stand for the entire shift
  • Occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.
  • Ability to lift, frequently, at least 50 pounds.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to speak, write, and understand English clearly.
