Job summary

Ferrovial is seeking a Project Engineer in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to support the USACE Flood Risk Control project. You will coordinate with the Segment/Discipline Manager, track costs, schedule, and quantities, and ensure adherence to contract requirements and safety standards.

Ideal candidates have a Civil Engineering degree and 2–5 years in heavy civil projects, with strong knowledge of drawings, specifications, and quantity take-offs, plus cost control and progress measurement skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 2–5 years of experience in heavy civil or infrastructure construction projects.
• Experience supporting construction segments involving self-default perform and subcontracted works.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and quantity take-offs.
• Experience with cost control, production tracking, and reporting.
• Familiarity with construction scheduling and progress measurement.
• Understanding of field-level contract administration.
• High level of English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Support the Segment / Discipline Manager in the execution of assigned construction scopes.
• Plan and track construction activities in accordance with the approved schedule and budget.
• Monitor and control costs, quantities, and productivity for assigned segments.
• Participate in monthly cost closing, forecasting, and master budget updates.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs, cost breakdowns, and production reports.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and self-perform crews to align with project objectives.
• Review and support submittals, RFIs, method statements, and Work Plans.
• Identify cost, schedule, or technical deviations and support corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
• Maintain clear communication with field teams, inspectors, and client representatives.
• Support inspections, testing, and progress reporting to USACE.
