Job summary

Barnard Construction seeks a Project Engineer to support cost control, scheduling, and field coordination on major heavy-civil projects across North America. You will work with project managers, engineers, and field crews to track costs, develop forecasts, and maintain submittal records.

Role requires travel and relocation as projects are domestic and international; candidates must be ready to work in dynamic sites and coordinate with diverse teams to meet contract requirements.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business Administration (Accounting, Management or Finance), Construction Management or related field.
  • Equivalent experience in a construction-related position will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • High level of involvement in the cost control system and construction costs analysis.
  • Participate in monthly forecasting of revenue and costs accruals.
  • Prepare monthly pay estimates.
  • Process and estimate change orders and RFIs as directed by Project Manager.
  • Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals.
  • Maintain submittal records, approvals, and resubmittals with transmittal dates.
  • Process/manage material deliveries and ensure quality inspection per contracts.
  • Manage and negotiate subcontractor and material contracts.
  • Assist in developing and updating project schedule.
  • Collaborate with field construction personnel (Superintendents, Foremen, Crews).

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business Administration (Accounting, Management or Finance), Construction Management or related field. Equivalent experience in a construction-related position will also be considered.
  • Must be willing to travel and relocate. Project sites are located domestically and internationally, so relocation and/or travel are required.

  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
Responsibilities

  • Participate in monthly forecasting revenue and costs accruals.
  • Accumulate all necessary data and prepare monthly pay estimates.
  • Process and estimate change orders and Requests for Information as directed by Project Manager.
  • Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals.
  • Maintain a complete and current record of submittals, approvals, and resubmittals, including a file of letters of transmittal and dates of each transaction.
  • Process/manage material deliveries - ensure that materials received are properly inspected for quantity and quality and in compliance with Contract documents.
  • Manage and negotiate subcontractor and material contracts.
  • Assist in developing and updating project schedule.
  • Work closely with field construction personnel (Superintendents, Foremen and Crews).
