Job summary

Ragnar Benson Construction is seeking Project Engineers to support passenger and heavy rail construction, data centers, and commercial buildings nationwide. You will coordinate subcontractor scheduling, manage submittals, RFIs, and project documentation, and assist with cost tracking and close‑outs while working with PM and field teams.

Travel is nationwide with on-site work including two weeks on site and a four‑day home rotation; per diem supports living expenses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in Civil or Industrial Construction required.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship; E-Verify used.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate scheduling of subcontractors on site.
  • Receive and check quality of materials.
  • Complete QA/QC checklists.
  • Process submittals (material approvals).
  • Prepare RFIs (general questions).
  • Prepare official project documents, routing and finalizing.
  • Prepare project reports as needed.
  • Maintain back‑up documentation.
  • Close‑outs final quantities.
  • Propose/negotiate extra work.
  • Handle special projects within the Project Management function.

Overview

Ragnar Benson Construction, a MasTec Company, is seeking a driven Project Engineers to support passenger and heavy rail construction, data centers, and commercial building projects across the United States.

The Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating project documentation, managing submittals and RFIs, supporting scheduling and subcontractor activities, tracking project costs and quantities, ensuring quality control, and assisting with project closeout efforts. Working closely with project management and field teams, the Project Engineer plays a key role in delivering complex construction projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. This position offers the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience on large‑scale projects nationwide while building a long‑term career with a leading contractor in the transportation and infrastructure industry.

Travel & Project Assignment: You can live in any city or state in the continental United States. You have the potential to be placed on a project site located in any state throughout the United States.

Must be capable of working on‑site for 2 weeks with a four‑day home rotation. We offer designated per diem of $1,020 per week in addition to base pay to support and help you cover living expenses during the travel rotation. You must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided for the assigned work location.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing scheduling of subcontractors on site
  • Receiving and checking quality of materials
  • Completing QA/QC checklists

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred (Civil Engineers, Construction Management, or related field preferred); High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2 years of experience in Civil or Industrial Construction is required
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. both now and in the future without company sponsorship. We are a drug free work environment based on Federal guidelines and use E‑Verify to confirm employment eligibility.
