Job summary

Engineering Resource Group seeks a Project Engineer for a food ingredient manufacturing plant in Port Reading, NJ. You will manage capital projects from concept through startup, coordinate cross-functional teams and ensure GMP/OSHA/environmental compliance.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering with 5+ years of project engineering experience, plus proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, MS Project and MS Office, and ability to read P&IDs and equipment manuals.

Qualifications

• Experience reading and interpreting P&IDs, equipment manuals and drawings.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D, MS Project and MS Office.

Job description

• Permanent position for a Project Engineer supporting process, utility and facility upgrades at a food ingredient manufacturing plant.
• Responsible for capital projects from concept, design and procurement through installation, commissioning and startup.
• Prepare capital expenditure requests, cost estimates and recommendations for plant expansion and long-range planning.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, purchase orders and technical documentation.
• Develop equipment specifications, solicit vendor quotes and support procurement and permitting.
• Create and review plant layouts, P&IDs, utility requirements and equipment drawings.
• Coordinate contractors, vendors, maintenance and production personnel during installations and facility modifications.
• Lead equipment testing and startup, and troubleshoot process and utility equipment to support operations.
• Ensure projects comply with food safety, OSHA, GMP, environmental and internal engineering standards.
• BS Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering (or related discipline).
• Minimum 5 years of project engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) design.
• Knowledge of process equipment, instrumentation and controls.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs and equipment manuals.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D, MS Project and MS Office.
• Working knowledge of GMP, food safety, OSHA and environmental compliance requirements.
• Food, beverage or pharmaceutical process industry experience highly desirable.
• Experience with blending, homogenization or other sanitary process equipment a plus.
