Job description

Job Title: Project Engineer

Location: Palm Bay, FL

Pay Range: $100,000-$105,000 /yearly (based on experience) + Bonuses + Benefits

Work Hours: Monday to Friday

Type of Employment: Full time/ Permanent Hire

The Project Engineer is responsible for all technical and engineering aspects of their assigned projects. They plan, schedule, predict, and manage all the technical tasks of their projects to assure accuracy, quality, proper resources, and identify any risk from start to finish. This individual must have aerospace experience.

Requirements / Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years aerospace production related engineering experience is acceptable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sheet metal forming, TIG welding, and/or multi-axis machining manufacturing.
  • Must have the ability to research, understand, and implement innovative technologies to reduce cost and improve quality.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, symbols, geometric tolerances, and specifications.
  • Must have working knowledge of the Computer-aided Design/Computer-aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) system use, shop mathematics, sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, inspection methods, and coatings.
  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Office products.
  • Capable of mentoring employees.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is a plus.
  • Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to communicate and read English proficiently.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assure and verify compliance of manufacturing methods as defined on customer drawings, specifications, and purchase order requirements.
  • Approve new and revise customer purchase orders during the contract review procedure.
  • Create and manage all required Bills of Material in support of assigned projects.
  • Create supply chain flow down requirements.
  • Create and approve all manufacturing routers including time standard on assigned projects.
  • Approve all operation work instruction sheets.
  • Submit tooling and program requests to appropriate manufacturing engineers with concepts.
  • Review and approve all fixture designs and Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) programs.
  • Collaborate with other management personnel and customers to develop and maintain new products and design change milestones.
  • May be required to revise quotes for existing assigned programs.
  • May be required to create and modify operation work instruction using CAD software.
  • May be required to design fixtures, work holding and inspection gauges for assigned projects.
  • Prepare and lead efforts pertaining to customer product reviews to include Production Readiness Reviews when applicable.
  • Review and disposition product repairs, reworks, and MRB’s.
  • Investigate and oversee root cause and corrective actions on assigned programs.
  • Ensure completeness of milestone plans and verify tasks for assigned products are completed accordingly.
  • Lead efforts pertaining to customer escape utilizing all other engineering members to ensure accurate data is quickly available for review by the quality manager.
  • Review manufacturing cost data to ensure that the right plans are in place to meet the cost goals for assigned products.
  • Responsible to ensure Phase 3 and Phase 4 tasks are completed and approvals are obtained for assigned products.
  • Recommend safety & ergonomic improvements in our material handling devices, manufacturing tools, and workstations to accommodate best practices for shop floor personnel.
  • Knowledge of material specifications.
  • Participates in discussions with customers and suppliers as required.
