Job summary

Dawson Metal Company in Jamestown, NY seeks a Product/Project Development Lead under the Senior Engineer and Senior Vice President. You will drive all aspects of product and project development for assigned customers, using CAD tools and engineering standards.

Requirements include an Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or ME Technology, 3 years of solid CAD modeling, 2 years in sheet metal design or manufacturing process design, and 2 years in project management.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in mechanical engineering or ME tech; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3 years solid modeling experience in CAD software.
  • 2 years sheet metal product or manufacturing process design experience.
  • 2 years of project management or project engineering experience.
  • Preference for sheet metal and/or job shop experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product/project development for assigned customers and projects.
  • Define project requirements from design, customer requirements, and specifications.
  • Review all product requirements for compliance with capabilities and standards.
  • Create and maintain BOMs, process data, and tooling requirements.
  • Plan, schedule, and track project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Communicate project status with internal and external teams.
  • Proactively manage changes during development and lifecycle.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external teams essential to development.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Job description

Objective: Under the leadership of the Senior Engineer and Senior Vice President, lead all aspects of product/project development for customers and projects assigned.

  • Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology; Bachelor’s degree in either discipline is preferred
  • 3 years of solid modeling experience using SolidWorks, Pro-E, Inventor, or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in sheet metal product design or manufacturing process design for sheet metal
  • 2 years of project management or project engineering experience. Preference is given to candidates with project management experience in sheet metal and/or job shop environment
Job Requirements:
  • Strong customer orientation (internal and external)
  • Ability to manage, develop, schedule, and track multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Proven analytical, independent decision making and problem resolution skills
  • Strong IS and PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead all aspects of product/project development for customers and projects assigned in accordance with company standards
  • Determine project requirements by analyzing product design, customer requirements, and all applicable specifications
  • Review all product requirements to ensure full compliance with the company’s capabilities, industry standards, and best practices
  • Create and maintain product and project data; including but not limited to the development and maintenance of BOMs, manufacturing process data, and tooling requirements
  • Plan, schedule, and track project timelines, milestones, and deliverables
  • Effectively communicate project expectations with internal and external team members
  • Ensure accountability for self and cross-functional team members in performance to the project timeline and related deliverables
  • Prepare and communicate project status reports
  • Proactively manage project changes throughout development and product lifecycle
  • Develop and grow relationships with internal and external team members vital to the successful development of products/project
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management
  • Other duties as assigned by Management

Salary: $50,000 ‐ $70,000 (depending on experience)
