Job summary

Hutchinson in the United States seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design and analyze shock, noise, and vibration solutions. You will lead conceptual design with customer engineers, perform DFMEA, and support the transition of products to production.

Required BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, experience with Creo (ProEngineer), FEA, and cost reduction teams. US citizenship required; defense/aerospace exposure is a plus. Strong communication and project management skills are essential.

Job description

Customer communication includes customer calls and visits, conceptual design with customer engineers, technical presentations and proposal writing concepts and quotations and recommendations for the resolution of shock and vibration problems.

Design and analysis includes the conceptual and iterative design required to reach a practical solution to customer problems of shock, noise and vibration, the use of Creo (ProEngineer) software, and the ability to perform DFMEA analysis.

Program and project planning/management requires high energy and the ability to manage multiple projects including design review, leadership and involvement in the new product introduction process, project scheduling, and coordination of the timely build, test and delivery of prototypes to customers. Plan and manage programs/projects from concept through customer acceptance. This includes initial design and analysis, prototyping, testing, iterative design and analysis, and transition of programs to production.

On-going product support includes initial design for manufacturability, DFM, cooperation with operations groups as products transition to high volume orders, assisting in the resolution of production problems, and leadership and involvement in product cost reduction teams. On-going product support, including FMEA, and assistance in cost reduction programs and continuous improvement teams.

The ideal candidate has

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering

Knowledge/experience with technical skills such as Creo (ProEngineer) and FEA, FMEA a plus, etc.

Knowledge/education that included courses in shock and vibration.

Proven organizational, communication, leadership, and influence skills.

Experience designing component solutions to problems of shock, noise, and vibration,U.S. citizen or elastomeric rubber to metal products preferred, with experience working with OEM engineers in related markets, Defense/Aerospace applications.

Strong project planning and project management skills

Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, team, leadership, and presentation skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to the prescribed style and format
