Job Description

Job Title: Project Engineer – Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems

Job Description

The Project Engineer will support the design, construction, testing, and documentation of continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS). This role combines technical design work with hands‑on oversight of system fabrication, quality testing, and site integration. The Project Engineer collaborates closely with internal teams, vendors, and clients to deliver high-quality monitoring solutions and ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to defined technical standards. Out-of‑town travel of up to 25% is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive project documentation deliverables, including complete sets of electrical, mechanical, production, and installation drawings.
  • Prepare detailed technical specifications, bills of materials (BOM), and spare parts lists for each project.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation such as owners’ manuals and quality assurance plans.
  • Support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) as required, ensuring systems meet design and performance criteria.
  • Assist with the design of systems and products for continuous emissions monitoring applications.
  • Assist with project financial management by supporting budgeting, cost tracking, and adherence to financial targets.
  • Support client relations by providing technical assistance and clear communication to both external and internal clients.
  • Provide direction and oversight for fabrication and assembly tasks to ensure systems are constructed on time and within budget.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing of completed products and systems prior to shipment to client sites.
  • Assist with site visits, onsite installation, startup, and commissioning activities at industrial locations.
  • Apply working knowledge of AC power distribution and supply (including 480, 208, 240, and 120 VAC systems) in system design and integration.
  • Apply knowledge of the National Electrical Code when reviewing and developing electrical designs.
  • Utilize working knowledge of digital and analog process signal measurement and control as they relate to programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Support or perform tasks related to manufactured systems integration, including basic metalworking, electrical wiring, sample gas transport and conditioning, analog and digital signal and control wiring, and pneumatic systems.
  • Write clear and accurate design specifications for CEMS and related systems.
  • Use CAD software (AutoCAD) to develop and update engineering designs and drawings.
  • Communicate technical concepts effectively with vendors, internal staff, and end users using both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborate in a team-oriented environment to achieve project milestones and overall company goals.
  • Use MS Excel, Word, and Outlook to manage documentation, communication, and project tracking.
  • Travel out of town up to approximately 25% of the time for site visits, installations, testing, and client support.
