Job summary

Christman Company is seeking a Project Engineer for large-scale commercial construction projects in the greater Oklahoma City, Oklahoma region. The role focuses on organizing project documents, managing submittals, RFIs, punch lists, and close-out activities on site.

Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering and at least 1 year of construction experience, with internships counted. Travel to sites is anticipated as projects progress.

• Minimum one (1) year of construction industry experience. Previous internship(s) in construction management or related field will apply.
• Equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Produce and organize project and professional documents consistent with Christman standards and risk management standards.
• Proactively prepare project documents for close-out, turnover, and archiving to ensure timely final delivery.
• Plan, communicate, and process close-out documents of all subcontracts as work concludes.
• Accurately summarize important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during meetings.
• Partner with client and architect to establish punch-list contents.
• Utilize current technology to expedite the punch list process and complete it within 30 days after substantial completion.
• Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections and create project-specific inspection logs.
• Provide information on procurement, material tracking, and inspections to the Project Superintendent.
• Manage the RFI process and ensure timely information flow to all parties.
• Update contract drawings to reflect changes and ensure trade contractor documents are updated.
• Organize and prioritize submittal requirements and manage architect submittal review process.
• Support the Project Superintendent by monitoring quality of work and compliance with construction documents.
• Assist with daily reports and the management of progress and quality photos.

What You Will Do:

• Produce and organize project and professional documents consistent with Christman standards and risk management standards for the document type to enable team members to readily access necessary documentation.
• Proactively prepare project documents for close-out, turnover, and archiving to allow efficient final compilation and delivery on schedule, as well as secure all necessary contractually required documents, including safety programs, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) documents for all required chemicals and materials used on the project, and quality control plans.
• Plan, communicate, and process close-out documents of all subcontracts as work concludes.
• Accurately summarize important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
• Partner with client and architect to establish punch-list contents.
• Utilize current technology to expedite the punch list process. The goal is to complete the punch list 30 days after substantial completion.
• Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections and create project-specific inspection logs according to Christman standards.
• Provides information on all procurement, material tracking, and inspections to the Project Superintendent.

• Organize and prioritize submittal requirements specified in contract documents and review for completeness. • Supports Project Superintendent by monitoring quality of work and compliance with construction documents as assigned by the Project Superintendent.
• Assist the Project Superintendent with daily reports and the management of all progress and quality photos.
• Model safety awareness and planning at all times while observing safety practices and report any concerns to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
• Supports the logistics process for all safety initiatives listed in the site specific safety plan.

Expected Hours of Work and Travel: Full time position. Extended hours and weekends may apply. Travel to and from the construction site is required; majority of the work will be done at the site. Most of the travel will be local, but some long-distance and overnight travel may be required depending on the project.
