Railroad Construction Company, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to support heavy civil and rail construction projects in New London, CT.

The role connects field operations, management, subcontractors, and owners to keep projects on schedule, within budget, and compliant with contract requirements. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field and 5+ years of construction/engineering experience, with strong communication and teamwork skills, and proficiency

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 5+ years of construction or engineering experience.
• Willing to work in varying outdoor conditions, travel as needed, and be flexible with hours.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD, HeavyJob, VISTA and/or BlueBeam is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Champion a safety-first culture by actively participating in the implementation and enforcement of the Company's safety program.
• Interpret construction drawings and project documents.
• Create field sketches and construction details.
• Inspect job sites for quality and progress.
• Provide technical support to field crews.
• Supervise, train and mentor Field Engineers.
• Coordinate material deliveries and subcontractors.
• Track materials, report progress, and help manage project budgets.
• Handle RFIs, submittals, and project documentation.
• Attend project meetings and provide updates.
• Perform quality control and assurance checks.

What You’ll Do:

The Project Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of heavy civil and industrial construction projects, including highways, bridges, utilities, earthwork, dams, marine, and rail work. Serving as a link between field operations, project management, subcontractors, and the owner, the Project Engineer helps keep projects on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract requirements.

Requirements

To be considered, preferred applicants should present the following:

• 5+ years of construction or engineering experience
• Willing to work in varying outdoor conditions, travel as needed, and be flexible with hours (nights/weekends/on-call)
• Tech-savvy, with Microsoft Office proficiency (experience with VISTA, HeavyJob, BlueBeam and/or AutoCAD
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
