We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to support our commercial construction projects in the Greater Nashville area. The ideal candidate will assist Project Managers and Superintendents with project documentation, scheduling, cost tracking, subcontractor coordination, and field operations. Job Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in planning, coordinating, and managing commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Support project scheduling efforts to help ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Manage the Request for Information (RFI) process, submittals, shop drawings, and project documentation.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and owners to facilitate project success.
- Assist with project cost tracking, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting.
- Process owner billings, change orders, purchase orders, and other project-related accounting activities.
- Conduct site visits and assist with on‑site management to monitor project progress and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate project records and ensure project documentation is current and complete.
- Assist with project closeout activities, including warranties, as‑built drawings, and final documentation.
- Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to the Project Manager and project team.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, construction standards, and applicable regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in construction, project coordination, project engineering, or project management.
- Knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and processes.
- Experience with project management software such as Procore, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, or government construction projects.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar construction software.
- Understanding of project scheduling and cost control principles.
- Internship or prior field experience in commercial construction.
