Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking a Project Engineer for an active FDOT roadway project in Naples, FL. This hands‑on role offers strong mentorship, a solid project backlog, and clear opportunities to advance toward Senior PE.

You will manage RFIs and submittals, assist the Superintendent in field tasks, track quantities and costs, and ensure FDOT‑compliant documentation. A Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree and 2+ years heavy civil experience are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of project or field engineering in heavy-civil/highway construction.
• Heavy-civil / FDOT roadway background or similar DOT experience.
• Experience with RFIs, submittals and field coordination.
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Ability to read civil construction plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage RFIs and submittals — keep information moving between designers, the owner, and subcontractors.
• Support the Superintendent in the field on material tracking, subcontractor scheduling, and daily sequencing.
• Help track quantities, pay estimates, and project costs.
• Review plans and specs to catch conflicts and constructability issues early.
• Keep documentation, daily reports, and records aligned to FDOT standards.
• Support scheduling, look-ahead planning, and change-order documentation.

WHAT YOU BRING

• 2+ years of project or field engineering in heavy-civil / heavy-highway construction.
• A heavy-civil / FDOT roadway background (or comparable DOT roadway experience).
• Working knowledge of RFIs, submittals, and field coordination.
• A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field — or equivalent field experience.
• The ability to read civil construction plans and specifications.

NICE TO HAVE

• Direct FDOT project experience.
• Familiarity with Primavera P6, Bluebeam, or Microsoft Project.
• EIT certification or measurable progress toward a PE license.
