Job summary

Envirocon is seeking a Project Engineer with experience in environmental remediation and civil construction to support Project Managers and Operations Directors in project administration, QA/QC, safety, invoicing, contract management, and project data management. This is a project-based position that requires extensive travel; relocation is not required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate clearly with a wide variety of individuals in person, via telephone and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and resolve practical problems, keeping all appropriate parties aware of issues or risks.
  • Must have a strong work ethic with strong organization, time management and attention to detail skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
  • Proficient computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong spreadsheet skills required. Project Scheduling software experience helpful but training can be provided.
  • Current 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certificate or 8-hour refresher certificate (provided if needed).
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Committed to Envirocon’s Safety Culture & actively involved in project Health and Safety.
  • Perform pre-task planning and assist in preparation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
  • Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
  • Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work.
  • Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages.
  • Assist in field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built data.
  • Order and schedule material deliveries.
  • Manage site QA/QC program, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications while reviewing work performed by subcontractors.
  • Prepare and submit project reports as required. Assist in the maintenance of basic project recordkeeping and correspondence functions including daily reports, photographs, requests for information (RFIs), and memorandums.
  • Oversee process and submittal tracking system. Prepare/oversee all project deliverables as required.
  • Oversee and manage project design elements where applicable.
  • Assist project team with subcontractor and vendor procurement and management.
  • Assist project team in completing onsite activities in a safe, cost effective and timely manner.
  • Assist in development of cost estimates including quantity takeoffs and historical production evaluations.
  • Utilize standard software spreadsheets to assist in the development and implementation of systems to record and track project cost and revenue.
  • Works well under pressure meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Project Manager including change order preparation, proposal development, etc.

Job description

Envirocon is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer with experience in environmental remediation and/or civil construction to join our team. The Project Engineer provides support to Project Managers and Operations Directors in project administration, quality, safety, invoicing/financial tracking, contract management, and project data management. The Project Engineer is expected to play an advisory role to Project Management as well and use their experience and judgment to make decisions within their limits of authority.

This is a project-based position and requires extensive travel. Relocation is not required.

Education and Experience
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in civil construction and/or environmental remediation preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Working knowledge of surveying techniques including the use of GPS equipment; water/soil sampling and testing; quality assurance/control; construction technology; and civil design preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
  • Experience with civil construction (concrete work, piping systems and utility work), environmental remediation and geotechnical construction (soil mixing, slurry walls, batch plant operations) preferred.
