The Role

The Project Engineer will support on-site construction projects, possibly traveling across the country. Responsibilities include managing project phases from design to completion, such as scheduling, bidding, permitting, subcontractor buyout, cost reporting, owner coordination, quality oversight, and project closeout. Travel or relocation may be required.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate and negotiate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Contribute to project scheduling and close-out processes.
• Assist in managing subcontractors, monitoring labor, costs, and equipment needs.
• Collaborate on design development to optimize methods for time and cost efficiency.
• Support preconstruction, quality, and safety processes.
• Establish and maintain project schedules and budgets, ensuring timely delivery.
• Ensure safety compliance and manage submittals, change orders, and contract adherence.
• Foster collaborative team relationships and provide pricing for scope changes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• 1-5 years of experience in commercial project management; internships or project engineering experience are a plus.
• Design-Build experience is ideal.
• Active jobsite experience with a strong safety record.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and inspection reports.
• Knowledge of construction methods, municipalities, and permit processes.
• Proven negotiation skills with change orders, submittals, RFIs, and pay requests.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of Building Code and Safety Regulations.
• Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, or similar project management software; Procore certification is preferred.
• Physical ability to walk job sites, climb ladders, and lift objects at least 50 lbs.
• Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests.
• Self-motivated with leadership qualities and high ethical standards.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
