Job summary

United Mechanical, LLC, a Fidelity Company, is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Fort Myers team. You will develop 2D/3D drawings for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical projects, using AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM tools.

You will participate in meetings and coordinate with architects, owners, and trades to ensure project success. The role requires a mechanical engineering background, 2+ years of related design or drafting experience, and a drive for quality in a growing Southwest Florida market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred.
• 2+ years in Commercial HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical design/drafting preferred.
• Familiarity with sheet metal, hydronic piping, plumbing, and refrigeration.

Responsibilities

• Develop 2D and 3D drawings for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical projects with minimal supervision.
• Set up and model 2D/3D drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM software.
• Maintain drawing standards for consistency across submissions.

What You’ll Do:

• Develop 2D and 3D drawings (permit submittal, construction shop drawings, as-builts, etc.) for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical projects with minimal supervision.
• Setup and model 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and other BIM software as required.
• Develop and maintain drawing standards as necessary to maintain consistency across drawings.
• Continue personal development in AutoCAD and Revit to strive for the highest quality drawing submissions.
• Assist with clash detection using Navisworks software.
• Attend project meetings when necessary to assist in coordination with architect, owner, or other trades.
• Work with business development team to develop solutions for clients.
• Work with project managers and field personnel to ensure projects are installed per plan.
• Work with field supervisor to create as-built drawings from redline markups.
• Maintain organized file system for production drawings.
• Perform cooling and heating load calculations.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is preferred.
• 2 years experience in Commercial HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical design and/or drafting is preferred.
• Familiarity with sheet metal, hydronic piping, plumbing and refrigeration.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and other BIM software.
• Construction and building industry background is preferred.
• EIT certification preferred or on track to obtain within 1 year.
